  Associate Members - Category - I  
 

A person who is working as the public relations Manager/Officer in a public sector company or corporation or in a public limited company in the private sector listed in the Stock Exchanges in India or in Chamber of Commerce & Industry; or a person working in a nationalised bank or c0operative bank/sector who is associated with the Press in the discharge of his/her normal function, will be eligible to be an associate member of the Club provided his/her membership is sponsored and paid for by his/her employer.

  Associate Member - Category -II  
 

A person working as public relations Manager/representative of registered and functioning public relations companies or recognized advertising agencies, mangers of advertising/public relations departments of recognized print and electronic media if sponsored by the employer as 'Nell as selfemployed advertising consultants, will be eligible for admission to this category. Admission fee for associate membership shall be Rs. 10,000/- and annual subscription of Rs. 7,500/- payable in advance. New members shall pay the subscription for the full year. Application for associate membership made in the prescribed form shall be considered by the Managing Committee. The number of members to be admitted from each Corporate or Government Body shall be determined by their importance, size and turnover but not exceeding three from one organization. The Managing Committee shall, on the basis of existing vacancies and the capacity of the Club to provide optimum services, determine the number of associate members to be admitted. Further provided that at no stage, the total number of associate members admitted shall exceed 25 percent of the total number of ordinary members.

  Corporate Members  
   
 

This category of non-voting membership will be open to public and private limited companies registered under the Companies Act as \Nell as foreign companies with turnover of Rs. 50 crores and above. The admission fee for Corporate Members shall be Rs Two Lakhs. A Corporate Member shall be entitled to nominate a maximum of two representatives and also pay the annual subscription fee of Rs. 2,000/- for each representative, irrespective of the date of membership and renewable on April 1, every year. Corporate Members have the option of changing/withdrawing their representatives by intimating the Club in writing.

 
     
  Corporate Life Members  
 

Private limited or public limited companies registered under the Companies Act will be eligible for corporate life membership upon payment of Rs. 10 Lakhs. A corporate life member shall have the right to nominate two representatives on annual basis, but shall also have the option of withdrawing or changing its representatives by intimating the Club in writing. No annual subscription shall be levied on corporate life members.

Information and public relations officers of Central and State Governments and local bodies inducing departmental undertakings and corporations are eligible to become Service Members. Provided that admission fee for service member shall be Rs. 1500/- and annual subscription of Rs. 1,500/- payable in advance in April 1, every year, irrespective of the date of admission.

  Eligibility  
 

1. A working journalist, hereafter referred to as journalist, who is employed in a News Agency, Registered Newspaper including periodicals or a news bureau of a Registered Newspaper - covered under the working Journalists Act (Conditions of Service and Miscellaneous Provisions of the Act 1955)
OR
A journalist employed by Internet or working in the Electronic Media Le. the Radio or any Television Network/Telecasting Channel where he/she is engaged in collection, analysis and dissemination of news or in the production of news and news-based programmes and information features
OR
Provided that he/she has a minimum of three years' prior experience as a journalist and he/she depends upon such employment as the main source of livelihood.

2. A journalist employed in a magazine involved in the coverage of hard news, events as well as developments in the political, economic, commercial and socio-cultural fields (excluding trade journals, house magazines, annuals, directories, casual and festival publications) provided he/she depends upon such employment as the main source of livelihood and has to his/her credit at least three years journalistic experience in the print media/electronic media or both put together.

3. A journalist employed in a niche publication in electronics, medicines, science and technology including areas such as Infotech , Internet, Telecom, Satcom or Computing provided he/she has at least three years' experience in print media/electronic media or both put together.

4. A journalist employed in the print or electronic media on contract basis provided he/she has three years' prior experience in the journalistic profession and produces his/her letter of appointment from appropriate authority with relevant documents in support of his/her application for ordinary membership and his/her admission is subject to the condition that such membership shall be restriction to the currency of the contract. Provided further he/she shall apply for renewal of Membership as and when the employment contract is renewed or shall apply a fresh for membership in the event of change of job without any change in his/her status as a Journalist.

5. A Journalist who is a member of the Club and remains in the profession until retirement or has spent a larger part of his working span in journalism and not joined any other career-line but continue as a freelance journalist, has the option to remain as an ordinary member with voting right or be an honorary member.

 
     
  Criteria  
 

1. Following criteria shall be adopted while considering an application for ordinary membership: Length of service in the profession, age & seniority, job description, membership period before application for fresh membership, pendency of application made to the Press Club as well as an undertaking by the applicant on admission to strictly adhere to the Rules and Regulations of the Club or not to bring the Club into disrepute.

2. Application for admission for ordinary membership shall be accompanied by an affidavit from the applicant in support of his/her statements made therein.

3. Admission to ordinary membership shall be restricted to 10 percent of the of the existing membership in a particular year in keeping with the limited accommodation and services available in the Club.

4. As regards the eligibility of certain categories of working journalists like artists, librarians, calligraphers, photographers, or index assistants for admission as ordinary members in the light of the sea-change that has taken place in the profession, the categorization mentioned in the Group 1-B and Group 3 of Schedule 1 of the recommendations of the Tribunal for Working Journalists of Newspaper Establishments other than News Agencies under Justice D.G. Palekar shall apply.

5. If the documents submitted by the applicant is found to be dubious, false or bogus, the proposer and seconder of the applicant shall forfeit his/her membership, and their names shall be displayed with reasons therefor.

6. An ordinary member, against whom disciplinary action is taken, shall ipso facto stand debarred from contesting elections. Nor shall he/she be entitled even to propose or second any other member of the Club as a candidate for elections for a minimum period of three years.

7. Admission fee for an ordinary member shall be Rs 500/- and annual subscription Rs 400/- which will fall due on April 1, every year and payable in advance: New members shall pay subscription for the full year irrespective of their date of admission.
